Who we are

The Yellow Front Door is a marketing studio based in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, Canada. Our website is theyellowfrontdoor.ca . For privacy questions or requests, contact us at hello@theyellowfrontdoor.ca .

What information we collect

We collect personal information when you choose to provide it to us. Depending on how you use the site, this may include your name, business name, email address, website address, the subject of your inquiry, and anything you include in a message or form.

Our interactive tools may also calculate scores or results based on the answers you provide. The Scorecard does not require you to submit contact information to see your results. If you choose to have results sent by email, your email address and the relevant score information are submitted for that purpose.

The Website Checkup also displays your results on the site. If you request its companion guide, the information requested in that form, along with your Checkup results, is submitted so we can provide the resource and respond if you specifically ask us to follow up.

We do not collect payment-card information through this website. Payments for client work are handled separately through the payment or invoicing arrangements described in the applicable project agreement.

How we use your information

We use information you provide to respond to inquiries, provide resources you request, deliver requested Scorecard or Website Checkup results, discuss potential work, administer client relationships, and operate the studio.

Requesting a guide, completing a form, or asking us a question does not by itself mean that you have agreed to receive ongoing marketing emails. If you separately consent to receive studio updates, resources, or other marketing email, we may send those messages through MailerLite. You can unsubscribe using the link provided in those emails.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their own marketing.

Service providers

We use third-party service providers to operate parts of this website and our communications. Information is shared with them only as needed for the services they provide to us.

We do not intentionally send your name, email address, or form-message contents to Google Analytics. See Google's Privacy Policy .

Consent and your privacy choices

Where consent is required, we collect, use, and disclose personal information for the purposes explained when the information is collected or for other purposes permitted by law.

You can contact us to ask what personal information we hold about you, request access to it, ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, withdraw consent where withdrawal is available, or ask us to delete information we no longer need.

In some circumstances, we may need or be permitted to retain information despite a deletion request, including for legal, accounting, security, contractual, or record-keeping purposes.

Safeguards

We take reasonable administrative and technical steps to protect personal information in our custody or control and limit access to information to people and service providers who need it for the purposes described here.

No internet transmission, hosting service, or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, for an ongoing client relationship, or for legal, accounting, security, or legitimate business-record requirements.

When information is no longer reasonably required, we may delete, anonymize, or otherwise dispose of it.

Canadian privacy law

Our handling of personal information is intended to follow applicable Canadian privacy requirements, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where it applies.

Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

Overview

These Terms of Service govern your use of theyellowfrontdoor.ca and the free resources made available through this website.

Paid client work is also governed by the project agreement, proposal, statement of work, or other written agreement accepted for that engagement. If a signed or accepted project agreement conflicts with these general website terms in relation to client services, the project agreement controls.

Website use

Unless otherwise stated, the original text, design, graphics, resources, and other content created by The Yellow Front Door for this website are owned by The Yellow Front Door and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

You're welcome to share links to our public pages or refer to our work with appropriate attribution. You may not reproduce, republish, resell, scrape for commercial republication, or redistribute substantial portions of our content or resources without written permission.

Free resources and tools

Resources such as The Scorecard, Website Checkup, downloadable guides, and similar materials are provided for your own personal or business use. They may not be resold, repackaged, rebranded, or represented as your own work.

These tools are intended to help you think through your website, marketing, customer experience, or systems. Their scores, observations, and recommendations are general information, not a guarantee of any particular business result.

Client services

The scope, deliverables, timeline, responsibilities, fees, revision terms, and other details of paid client work are established in the agreement for that project.

We may decline a project inquiry when we do not believe the project is the right fit, when capacity is unavailable, or for another legitimate business reason.

Payment

Payment schedules and due dates for client work are set out in the applicable project agreement or invoice. Depending on the project, work may be structured around deposits, milestones, recurring payments, or another agreed schedule.

We do not process client project payments directly through this website.

Cancellation, pauses, and refunds

Cancellation and refund terms for paid work are governed by the applicable project agreement.

Unless that agreement says otherwise, if a project is cancelled or paused after work has begun, amounts relating to work already completed, committed project time, approved milestones, or non-refundable expenses may remain payable.

Free resources provided at no charge are not subject to refund terms.

Client responsibilities

Client projects depend on timely participation. You are responsible for providing requested materials, accurate business information, approvals, access credentials where required, and feedback reasonably needed to complete the work.

Delays in receiving those items may affect delivery dates or project schedules.

You are also responsible for ensuring that you have the right to provide and use any photographs, logos, written materials, trademarks, data, or other content you give us for use in your project.

Intellectual property

Ownership and licensing of paid project deliverables are governed first by the applicable project agreement.

Unless that agreement says otherwise, once all amounts owing for a project have been paid, the client receives ownership of the final client-specific deliverables created for that project.

Pre-existing tools, templates, frameworks, systems, methods, reusable code, processes, know-how, and other materials that were not created exclusively for the client remain the property of The Yellow Front Door or their respective owners.

Third-party fonts, software, photographs, plugins, platforms, stock assets, or other licensed materials remain subject to the terms and licences of their respective owners.

Portfolio use

Unless a project agreement says otherwise or we agree in writing to confidentiality, we may display completed public-facing work in our portfolio, case studies, social channels, proposals, or other studio marketing.

Results and warranties

We work carefully and in good faith, but marketing, websites, branding, content, and business systems are affected by many factors outside our control.

We do not guarantee specific levels of revenue, sales, leads, rankings, website traffic, engagement, conversions, or other business outcomes unless a written project agreement expressly says otherwise.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, The Yellow Front Door is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses resulting solely from use of this website or its free resources.

Any limitations of liability that apply to paid client services are governed by the applicable project agreement.

Third-party services

Our website and client projects may link to or use third-party services, platforms, software, hosting providers, or other tools. Those services are operated by their respective providers and are subject to their own terms, policies, availability, and technical requirements.

Governing law

These website terms are governed by the laws of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Nova Scotia.

Any dispute relating specifically to a paid client project is also subject to the dispute and governing-law provisions, if any, in the applicable project agreement.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service as the website or studio changes. The revision date at the top of this section shows the most recent update.

Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to hello@theyellowfrontdoor.ca .

These website terms are intended to work alongside individual client agreements. Project-specific terms in an accepted agreement take priority for that project.
